Called to Service: A Mini-Documentary On the Permanent Deacons of Philadelphia

On Thursday, September 22, 2022, the Office of Permanent Deacons premiered a 9-minute documentary on the Permanent Diaconate in Philadelphia, entitled “Called to Service.” The video was produced by Emmy award-winning, Joyful Films, the same company that creates the vocations videos for Heed The Call.

The video answers the question, “Who is the deacon?” And while educating the viewer on the origins of the diaconate, as well as identifying the sacramental union with all of the clergy, the video focuses primarily on the deacon’s main charism of charity and how he lives out this charism in the world through his ministry, in his secular vocation, and for those who are married – in his marriage and family life.
