Remembering Pope Francis – Nine Days of Mourning
It is a custom in our Roman Catholic Church to remember our deceased Holy Father, Pope Francis with nine days of mourning, following his death. This Novendiales or Nine Days is the official days of mourning in Rome and throughout the Church. The first of the nine days of mourning is the Funeral Mass of Pope Francis, Saturday, April 26, 2025, 10:00A.M, Rome. In accordance with these directives, we will observe them as follows:
Saturday 26 April 2025, at 10.00, first day of the Novendiales is at Saint Peter’s Basilica.
Sunday, April 27th (2nd day)
In the weekend Masses at our Partnering Parishes of Sacred Heart, Clifton Heights, and St. Charles Borromeo, Drexel Hill, we will pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and the Eternal rest for Pope Francis after Holy Communion, and during the Devotions for the Divine Mercy.
Monday, April 28th (3rd day)
Sacred Heart Church: 8:00A.M. Rosary, then 8:30A.M. Morning Mass
St. Charles Borromeo Church: 6:30P.M. -7:30P.M. – Holy Hour and Prayers for the Dead
Tuesday, April 29th (4th day)
Sacred Heart Church: 8:00A.M. Rosary, then 8:30A.M. Morning Mass
Wednesday, April 30 (5th day)
Sacred Heart Church: 8:00A.M. Rosary, then 8:30A.M. Morning Massfor a Deceased Pope
Thursday, May 1st (6th day)
St. Charles Borromeo Church:8:00A.M. Rosary, then 8:30A.M. Morning Mass for a Deceased Pope
St. Charles Borromeo Church: 6:30-7:30P.M. Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Sacrament of Penance, and Devotional Prayers
Friday, May 2nd (7th day)
St. Charles Borromeo Church:8:00A.M. Rosary, then 8:30A.M. Morning Mass
St. Charles Borromeo Church: 7:00P.M. Holy Hour and prayers for the Dead
Saturday, May 3rd (8th day)
St. Charles Borromeo Church: 8:30A.M. Mass, Exposition, Adoration, the Sacrament of Penance, Devotions, and Benediction
Sunday, May 4th (9th day)
